Meet Amy of Written Edge Copywriting

Amy started the Brand Shoot Process by completing Map Your Brand’s workbook – Let’s Talk About Images This is a process that is included in all my Brand Photography shoots, and also available to anyone who wants to understand what images to use that support their brand and communicate their brand’s story to their Ideal Clients.

Amy and I have a FREE WORKSHOP coming up in Newport, VIC on the 6th of October 2018 you can reserve your seat here – Words & Images:Your Most Powerful Marketing Tools

I asked Amy to give us a brief run down of her business and what her experience was having a Brand Photography session, this is what she had to say;

Many business owners don’t enjoy writing their own marketing material. It might be that they’re uncomfortable with ‘sales speak’ or perhaps they feel too close to their product to tease out the key benefits and present those in a compelling way. As a copywriter, that’s where I come in! I create engaging marketing copy (from websites, blogs and e-news through to traditional printed brochures) to help brands better communicate with their ideal clients, while allowing the business owner to focus on doing what they do best.

Why did you decide to have a brand shoot?

When I first started out I was using stock images on my website and social media accounts, but they felt quite generic. A photo of a man’s hand putting pencil to paper didn’t accurately reflect me or the way I work! I knew ‘real’ photographs would be much more effective, but having these taken always been on the back-burner – until I met Kirsten. Everything she had to say about the importance of on-brand images resonated with me and I knew she was the right person to help me create my own image library.

What did you gain from completing the Let’s Talk About Images workbook?

The workbook was a real eye-opener. It made me stop and think about my business in ways I hadn’t before; not just in terms of images, but the business as a whole. I realised there were services I provided that prospective clients had no idea about yet. The workbook helped me come up with ideas for images to represent all the ways I can use the written word to help people.

How did the workbook help you plan & prepare for your brand shoot?

The exercises in the workbook made me think about every aspect of my business, which ensured we covered all the bases on the day of the brand shoot. The workbook also helped me make sure the images on my shot list answered my clients’ questions. Having a plan and knowing exactly which images we needed was incredibly helpful on the day.

What was it like working with Kirsten?

Working with Kirsten was great fun! She has a warm, bubbly energy and a way of putting people at ease in front of the camera. She also brought a lot of bright ideas to the table. Kirsten wants her images to represent not only us as business owners, but also ourclients and the kinds of problems we can solve for them. So she came up with some clever ways to represent writer’s block: scrunched up pieces of paper, blank notepads, a client throwing their hands up in frustration, and so on.

How do you feel about the finished images, now that you’ve seen them?

Kirsten’s images are a true representation of my business and a huge improvement on the stock images I was using! They say something about my personality, why it’s a good fit for the work I do and the specific ways I can help my clients. We visited three different locations throughout the day and she captured an impressively wide range of photos, from professional client ‘meet & greets’ through to images that are a bit cheeky and fun.

What difference do you think your Unique Image Library will make to your business?

I believe people connect first and foremost with people, ahead of products or services. Using authentic images will go a long way towards building trust and a rapport with potential clients. Thank you Kirsten!
